Hobgoblin community Hobby Event
In the black baptismal pool of a subterranean template, brackish water stirs to the rhythm of growled chants. A hideous flappy shape flops out of the font, oily ichor staining the rough flagstones and dwarfing the supplicating choir before it. An unhallowed sacrament, centuries in preparation, is consummated with a savage flick of a ritual dagger: scarlet glints as it hits the floor. With a bellow of hunger and triumph, the creature in the temple turns to see the dark water give birth to more colossal silhouettes.
Leading up to Adepticon, join the community in a hobby challenge to create the nastiest, stompiest, meanest Child of Gomb Monster you can come up with! Kitbashing and creativity are heavily encouraged. If you will be attending the event make sure to bring your evil baby to be used in the narrative tournament!
Hobgoblin is holding a narrative tournament at Adepticon this year, centered around the Children of Gomb. Each player must contribute a monster to serve as an environmental horror stalking the players during the event. Children of Gomb are horrific, mutating monsters of all shapes and sizes. They can be anything as long as they fit on a Narrow Base size, something rectangular or square, between 40 x 40mm and 100 x 160mm.
Judgement Criteria
Must be a playable model in Hobgoblin, meaning a rectangular base in the Narrow Footprint.
We’re looking for diorama bases, hand-crafted, kitbashed, or clever appropriations, not perfect paint jobs.
Each monster should be submitted with it’s Name, a brief description of its lore (one or two sentences), Keywords, and Cost. You can build it for free here: https://hobgoblin.indietabletop.club/army
Judgement does not have a specific measurable rubric. We will consider multiple factors in each submission: creativity (kitbashing, modeling, lore), cohesion, overall theme, design, paint job, techniques, and visual storytelling.
Submission Rules
Provide a picture of your unpainted model alongside a Shampoo bottle in the #childrenofgomb Discord channel
From February 9th through March 13th, kitbash, sculpt, and paint your Child of Gomb to your heart’s content.
By Friday the 13th (March 13, 2026) submit no more than three pictures showing your Child of Gomb.
Tag @iamlegionWEARE1 in the post with the text “FINAL SUBMISSION”.
You may create as many Children of Gomb as desired, but only one can be submitted.
Judging will occur in the days following the closure of submissions, and a winner will be announced before Adepticon. The winner will receive a token trophy in the mail upon providing their shipping address to put alongside their golden goblins.
